Isaiah 53

 4 Surely he took up our pain
   and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
   stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
   he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
   and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
   each of us has turned to our own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
   the iniquity of us all.

Answered 700 years later in 2 Corinthians 5

 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin[b] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

What is it to become the righteousness of God?   How can we who are so sinful attain such a glory?  Only through the blood of Christ that washes and removes all of the sin that separates us from God.  Therefore we can stand in His presence.  Thanks to Christ.
