Proverbs 29 19 Servants cannot be corrected by mere words; though they understand, they will not respond.
21 A servant pampered from youth will turn out to be insolent.
These scriptures are about servants, but they really apply to parents and children as well. I've seen so many parents pamper their children and then try to discipline them with words only. The kids totally disregard all the parents have to say and the turmoil is awful.
