God raised up quite a leader in Samuel. He brought the people together and had them get rid of the idols. They recommitted themselves to God and began to win victories on the battle fields. God give us such leaders in our day as well! Then the people demanded a king and God's response is so telling of how He feels that our mutual rellationship should be. He said, "It is me that they are rejecting, not you". That just hurts down to the core. We can hurt God and should make every effort not to do so.
