When you look at Deut. 23:7,8 you see that God considers the history of what has taken place between nations and families to be important. The Edomites were to have a chance to come into fellowship. Even the Egyptians had a chance at fellowship, because the Israelites were blessed by them in some sense. I often think about what's happening only in terms of "today" where I realize God doesn't consider things in the same scheme.
