Thoughts for today's reading?

  1. in Lev 9:23 what do you think the 'glory of God' looked like?
i kind of feel sorry for Nadab & Abihu. it seemed to be their 1st sacrifice & they used the wrong fire. couldn't God have been a little more patient w/ them until they had learned all the rules. seems like they should have been allowed a margin of mistake, so to speak.
in Lev 10 Moses rebukes Aaron's other 2 sons for not eating the sin offering in the sanctuary. it struck me that these people had almost impossible rules to keep.
I envision God as being forgiving & patient. this also makes me extremely thankful for Jesus's one time sacrifice for all mankind.

  2. I know that it's hard to understand why Nadab and Abihu had to die. It really reminds me of when Uzzah reached out to touch the Ark and was struck dead. The holiness of God is something that can put fear into a person. It was why God warned the people not to rush forward to touch the Mountain when He was appearing to them. His holiness must be something that is such an integral part of His nature that it can't be denied when it is transgressed. Even Aaron and his sons couldn't leave the Tabernacle area if they were annointed with the Lord's oil. The real question for me is how I should live since I understand this. How should I celebrate the holiness of God?
