In his psalm of repentance David says, "Create in me a pure heart, Oh God!" How many of us have felt this way after we have sinned and wished that we hadn't. Sin just makes you feel dirty and bad and you long to feel "clean" and "spiritually healthy" again.
What a great example of how wanting something is not the same thing as having it. When Amnon raped his sister, Tamar, he had lusted after her with all his being and then after violating her he hated her with all his being. After all would the Devil want us to be truly happy in our sin? He twists us around and fools us and helps us to make excuses and then he hurts us with that which he brought to us. How can people worship the Devil? That is the height of stupidity.
