Thoughts for today?

1 comment:

  1. Today's reading is loaded with good thoughts:
    Psalms 1
    1 Blessed is the one
    who does not walk in step with the wicked
    or stand in the way that sinners take
    or sit in the company of mockers,
    2 but whose delight is in the law of the LORD,
    and who meditates on his law day and night.
    3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
    which yields its fruit in season
    and whose leaf does not wither—
    whatever they do prospers.

    Our nourishment comes from God and His word. He makes us complete and healthy.

    Psalms 14
    1 The fool[a] says in his heart,
    “There is no God.”
    They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
    there is no one who does good.

    So true to today as it must have been back then. It's not cool or intelligent to believe in a creator. You're derided for believing in myths. How foolish is it to believe that all of this creation came about by random chance and that it shows absolutely no planning or insight. FOOLISH!

    Psalms 37
    1 Do not fret because of those who are evil
    or be envious of those who do wrong;
    2 for like the grass they will soon wither,
    like green plants they will soon die away.

    3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
    dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
    4 Take delight in the LORD,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart.

    I like the idea of "delighting" in the Lord. It brings to mind a child on Christmas morning.

    25 I was young and now I am old,
    yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken
    or their children begging bread.
    26 They are always generous and lend freely;
    their children will be a blessing.[b]

    That's a powerful statement that gives real peace and hope.

    34 Hope in the LORD
    and keep his way.
    He will exalt you to inherit the land;
    when the wicked are destroyed, you will see it.

    This reminds me of the passage that says that God humbles us, but lifts us up in due time to give us blessings. We have to have faith and be patient.
