    I was fascinated that David would not lift his hand against Saul, God's anointed.  This shows a great respect for God and is also something that he is teaching all of his men who might think to betray him someday.  God allowed David to be put through a great deal of conflict.  His men must have been often terrified by all of this pursuit from a greater force, but they would have come to believe in and honor David as they saw the Lord rescuing him.  They also saw how honorably David acted.  I am sure that his men loved him as a leader and were very inspired by him.
