Thoughts for today?

  1. 11 Do not withhold your mercy from me, LORD;
    may your love and faithfulness always protect me.
    12 For troubles without number surround me;
    my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see.
    They are more than the hairs of my head,
    and my heart fails within me.
    13 Be pleased to save me, LORD;
    come quickly, LORD, to help me.

    Boy, who hasn't felt like that at times! Lord, forgive us of our many many sins and help us to remember the magnitude of what we are forgiven.

  2. 12 People, despite their wealth, do not endure;
    they are like the beasts that perish.

    13 This is the fate of those who trust in themselves,
    and of their followers, who approve their sayings.[d]
    14 They are like sheep and are destined to die;
    death will be their shepherd
    (but the upright will prevail over them in the morning).
    Their forms will decay in the grave,
    far from their princely mansions.
    15 But God will redeem me from the realm of the dead;
    he will surely take me to himself.

    I like this passage, because it points out that something about what the Jews believed about Heaven. When did they first come to understand this?
