     I bet that witch was scared when Samuel came as she summoned him.  I also wonder what the Israelites understanding of Heaven was like at this time.  Evidently Saul believed that Samuel's soul still existed.  How would you like to get the news that you and all of your sons were going to die that day from a reliable source like Samuel?  David's heart must have broken when his close friend died.  He was his brother and he loved him.  It irritates me when some people try to make this a homosexual thing.  My son is a soldier and he speaks about the love that soldiers have (a brother of arms).
