When the Lord appeared to Isaac at Beersheba, surely Isaac must have thought back to a time when Abraham took him up the mountain to sacrifice him. I find it interesting that God tells him "Do not be afraid." The text does not indicate what Isaac might have been afraid of.
I've always thought that we don't know Isaac very well compared with Abraham and Jacob. I think that there are a lot of things that we can insinuate about him though.
