I was again struck by all of the distrust of family in this passage. Why did Esau come to meet Jacob with 400 men? What type of message did that send? I also thought how terrible it would have been to be one of the kids that were born to Leah's and Rachel's servants. They were pushed out ahead of the favored wives. That would feel terrible! I was also struck by the fact that Jacob had the faith to make this journey when the Lord told him to even though he knew that it was frought with danger. One more question. Why did God wrestle with Jacob and then dislocate his hip?
